Will Noble clamps Bo Nuanji's eye before performing a lateral canthotomy. (CAS: Series 33, Episode 41)

A lateral canthotomy is a medical procedure that involves cutting the inferior crus of the lateral canthus to relieve pressure on the orbit. Sometimes, the superior crus may be cut, but it is not necessary if the patient's vision has begun to restore. According to consultant Will Noble, it is a "once or twice in a career" procedure.
