Synopsis

Alicia treats a pregnant woman named Hebe who is reluctant to receive help due to her immigration status, and she believes that she may have sepsis. Soon, she goes into labour, and her baby is successfully delivered. When Alicia tells Hebe that she and her baby will be moved to the maternity ward, fearing that she will have to pay for her treatment, she takes her child and leaves. However, the baby soon becomes cyanosed and is rushed back into the ED.

Faced with no other options, Alicia suggests performing an umbilical catheterisation, but Ethan strongly disagrees. She ignores his objections and goes ahead with the procedure which ends in success. Afterwards, Alicia asks Ethan why he tried to impose his "play it safe" mentality on her, and he tells her that he's senior. Later, she tells him that he still sees her as a junior doctor and decides to spend the night on her own.

Duffy visits her GP and books a memory test in the afternoon. At the ED, she refuses to help Jade and Marty, who are still bickering, which results in a young patient's care being compromised. She helps Marty learn to trust his instincts when the young boy begins to show unusual symptoms. Meanwhile, news of her and Charlie's separation begins to spread throughout the department, and Robyn pushes her to admit that she cheated on Charlie. Later, Duffy goes for the memory test and is devastated when she struggles with it. Elsewhere, Iain and Ruby agree to put their kiss behind them.
