While Connie attends her first chemotherapy session, she places Ethan in charge of the ED. When Jacob suggests handing over his responsibilities on the floor to focus on admin and paperwork, Ethan is determined to impress Connie and turns down the offer. This backfires when his decisions creates a backlog of patients, forcing them to occupy the corridors. The problem compounds when a patient's brother crashes a response vehicle into a nearby estate agents. After a frank conversation with Duffy, Ethan bites the bullet and organises the troops. Later, the stress on the department begins to ease.

Meanwhile, Robyn and Max are not impressed when Glen begins his first shift at the ED as a porter. However, after he helps save the life of a priest, their opinion of him begins to change. Elsewhere, David continues to mentor Rash.
